這首歌詞很難翻譯，仍有不少不明不白的，例如stacks，如有更好理解麻煩告知。我上rufus論壇看過討論，大意是這樣的：

從rufus家庭情況說起吧，他爸爸是出名的歌手，rufus有個同父同母的妹妹martha，另有兩位同父異母的妹妹，這首歌多數是送給martha的。再說莫札特。莫札特和他妹妹都有音樂天賦，可從事音樂行業的老爸覺得女孩子在那個行業很難發揮，就只捧莫札特，靠兒子來賺錢，妹妹就給哥哥幫手。

人們從小就將rufus看作莫札特一樣是音樂神童，而也有音樂天賦的martha則生活在哥哥的陰影之下，個人得不到很大的發揮，但也經常參加rufus的巡演當伴唱或伴奏，rufus在歌裡自比莫札特，也是歷史重演吧。

歌唱的是想入這行的女音樂家。歌詞有不少暗示，如＂夠不著踏板的腳，和巨大影子縫起來＂（在天才哥哥的陰影下），＂歷史站我這邊＂（男性優勢），還要記得你哥哥是男孩（超反諷兼幽默的一句，rufus常說自己是女的嘛），＂你可能得用上臀部use your hips as fodder＂（fodder有作為好處的意思，就是利用美色之類的潛規則啦），＂歷史始終是場遊戲＂（安慰鼓勵妹妹吧），＂就讓我們在這迷宮裡，別再管領我們回家的線＂（不回家，不理討厭的老爸？這迷宮指的是米諾斯迷宮。到底有這樣的哥哥是不幸還是幸運呢）。

音樂上，很法國，很歐式，很古典，那弦樂編曲啊，活潑又精緻，論壇上不少人聽了都說幻想到rufus戴powdered wig在彈琴。這音樂一聽就喜歡，想不到歌詞也一樣巧妙。

Rufus說："It's a song about a guy I met at the gym who of course was straight. He'd tell me stories about his female students who were ravenous for him. So I put myself in their shoes to write the song. I played it for him and it went totally over his head!"

＂這首歌是這樣的，我做gym時碰到這個男的，當然是直人啦。他說了些熱戀他的女學生的故事。我將自己放進他的故事裡寫了這首歌。我唱給他聽，然後他整個腦子都在想這歌。＂

我本身很喜歡這首歌詞，翻譯之後更喜歡。這首歌有Rufus深情肉緊的演唱，聽得很清楚他獨有的呼吸聲，還有那手行雲流水般的鋼琴solo，中間加插french horn，出人意料也令首歌不太單調，整個是回憶加多愁善感的憂傷氛圍。

Rufus說："This is an escapist song similar in theme to "Barcelona" from my first album. Yet both songs are about very real places. It's the surreality of reality. Musically there's definitely a Martin Denny-type lounge feel to this song."

＂這和首張專輯裡的Barcelona一樣，是寫給escapist（消遙者）的，可是兩首歌裡出現的都是真實的地方。現實裡的超現實。音樂上來講，這歌絕對有種Martin Denny的lounge感覺。＂

Rufus說: "The One You Love was written about coming to terms with your own sexual escapades. I thought of myself as unattractive and not virile, but at the same time I also know that self deprecation is attractive to people, you can suck them in with your insecurity."

＂The One You Love寫的是放蕩性體驗。我覺得自己不吸引又沒有男人味，但我也知道貶低自己能吸引人，用不安全感招引別人。＂

The Superfabulous World of Rufus Wainwright

幾星期前，Rufus Wainwright準備前往Union Square的Barnes & Noble宣傳新專輯”Release the Stars”，他發覺一身黑色打扮有點陰沉，說了句＂情況緊急＂，就沖到公寓樓下的古玩珠寶店挑了條２０年代的捷克玻璃項鍊，戴起來在黑T-shirt襯 托下閃閃發光。

這正好，Rufus的fans期待閃光。見面會來了約八百名fans，最早的中午就到了，而見面會晚上七時才開始。他們想看Rufus表演，拿CD簽名，和他拍照，表達崇拜之情。

有人滔滔不絕說了起來：＂聽了他的音樂，我更了解自己。＂

Rufus知道自己那麼厲害嗎？

＂我確實感到自己過著很厲害的生活。＂他說，下午在 Gramercy Park附近的日本茶座，他和新男友Jörn Weisbrodt一起吃餃子，Jörn Weisbrodt從事藝術行政。＂我也知道，很多評論家挑剔我，因為他們只是妒嫉。＂

他 應該知道接下來會有猛烈評論。這位３３歲的唱作人兼人造鑽愛好者，最近 實在是非常厲害。他重演了Judy Garland 1961年在Carnegie Hall的演唱會，贏得讚譽和推崇，而且獲得Metropolitan Opera聘用。Release the Stars上月在英國發行旋即成為最佳銷售專輯，在美國一直大熱。他在英國the Old Vic舉行五場音樂會後，明天將在曼哈頓Gramercy的the Blender Theater舉行四晚演出。

對Rufus 來說，數量是個敏感話題。雖然他很自然將自己當成超級巨星， 但總有點反話的味道，他之前幾張專輯更像是cult熱門。在美國，Release the Stars在２３號登上Billboard榜，只賣出２萬４千張，已經是他最高排名，而同星期另一受歡迎indie樂隊Wilco推出新專輯便到達第４ 位。最近有關他最出名的是在某同性戀尋找性愛網站發布個人資料（管理者認為是假冒，已刪除該帳戶）。

妒 嫉他的評論家們會說他總是沒辦法不虛張聲勢，賣弄花巧，所以Rufus 請來the Pet Shop Boys的Neil Tennant管好他。這總算，有點成功。＂很明顯，Wainwright先生在Release the Stars注入足夠的誠意來克服浮誇賣弄，至少減少了一些。＂紐約時報評論家Nate Chinen寫到。
